House with (almost) everything

With its black granite swimming pool and cascading waterfalls, it is the home designed for the wealthy wife who has everything.

Property magnate Mark Gosling brought building materials from the Far East and took inspiration from Hollywood when he designed and built the palatial house for his wife, Donna.

But today it is on the market for £6.85 million - because the woman who should have been the lady of the house never crossed the threshold.

Donna allegedly left Mr Gosling for another man before the house, in the affluent Thameside village of East Molesey, was even completed.

Now, after living alone in 17,000 square feet of splendour for little over a year, Mr Gosling, 42, has put the property up for sale. It is billed by estate agents FPD Savills and Knight Frank as "one of the most exceptional houses of the 21st Century".

It has seven bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom (the master bedroom has two), a bar with giant aquarium, a gym and a games room. The kitchen is 60 feet long and has a walk-in fridge.

The three-floor house (served by a lift) also has a flat for live-in staff, more than half an acre of garden and garaging for three cars.

But the crowning glory is the pool with its black granite tiling, terracotta panels from Thailand and ceiling-high waterfall.

"I took the idea from the film Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom," Mr Gosling said. The home has caused a stir among London's footballing elite, with wealthy Chelsea stars rumoured to have considered buying it.

England centre half John Terry, striker Didier Drogba and new manager Jose Mourinho are all said to have shown an interest in the house, which is conveniently close to the club's new Cobham training ground.

Mr Gosling confirmed the split. Asked if he felt saddened, he said: "No, not particularly."

His 37-year-old wife, who still lives in East Molesey, refused to comment.

The couple were together for 12 years, and ran a firm selling children's playground equipment.

Mr Gosling's father is Sir Donald Gosling, a co-founder of the NCP car park operator said to be worth ?480 million.
