Halle in new casting

Looking relaxed days after breaking her right arm while filming a scene from her new movie, Halle Berry walks hand-in-hand with her husband Eric Benet. She later played with her two dogs in the sunshine but the pets were not too boisterous as the Oscar-winning actress would not want another mishap.

Filming on the thriller Gothika was interrupted last week when Berry broke her arm during what was described as a "physically demanding" scene on the Montreal set. Warner Brothers spokesman Joe Everett said: "It wasn't a stunt scene, it was just one of the physical scenes in a movie. Her arm didn't go the way it was supposed to."

Berry, 32, was taken by ambulance to a Montreal hospital, where she was treated for a broken ulna - the bone that extends from the elbow to the wrist - and later released.

Dressed in khaki combat trousers, fashionable retro trainers and black sweatshirt, Berry - hailed as one of the world's most beautiful actresses - could have passed for any city woman spending her day off in the park.

After the 10-minute walk, the couple drove to their hotel in the city centre. Their evident happiness comes after a period of problems in their marriage. They almost split after Benet admitted he cheated on Berry days before she won an Academy Award for her role in Monster's Ball last year.

In Gothika, which also stars Robert Downey Jnr and Penelope Cruz, Berry plays a criminal psychologist who wakes to find that she is accused of murdering her husband and is a patient in the asylum where she works. Describing her role on US TV earlier this month, Berry said: "It's turning into something that's really gritty and really, really scary."

This is not Berry's first industrial accident. She suffered an eye injury while filming an action sequence in the Bond film Die Another Day last year. Her character's name in that film? Jinx.
