Japanese hot dog eater Takeru Kobayashi was arrested for storming the world championships in New York, in which he was banned from competing over a contract row.
The six-time champion was arrested as he tried to get on the stage after the competition.
He had refused to sign a contract with the speed-eating group Major League Eating and was barred from the event in Coney Island, which his rival Joey Chestnut won for the fourth year in a row.
Mr Kobayashi jumped a barrier and tried to get up on the stage while the crowd chanted: "Let him eat!"
He grabbed a barrier as police pulled him away, but was charged with resisting arrest, trespass and obstructing governmental administration.
