Cherie is weakest link, says Robinson

Cherie Blair has found herself on the wrong side of a tongue-lashing from TV's Anne Robinson.

At the recording of her new chat show, Robinson repeatedly ridiculed the Prime Minister's wife and invited the assembled guests to poke fun at her dress sense, looks and singing ability.

When Marcus Brigstocke, her co-host on What's The Problem? suggested that Mrs Blair donate ?25,000 of the rumoured ?30,000 she is earning from her US speaking tour to charity and buy a dress with the change, Robinson replied: "Cherie buying a nice dress? Well, there's always a first time for everything."

The hosts later discussed the title of Mrs Blair's book, Goldfish Bowl: Married To The Prime Minister, commenting that Mrs Blair's features resembled nothing as much as an actual goldfish.

A spoof promotional video of Mrs Blair's US tour was shown to the audience before the show's main guest, Bethnal Green and Bow MP George Galloway, dismissed the trip as "tawdry, sordid and grubby".

While some scenes may end up on the cutting-room floor, the 30-minute show, which will be screened on BBC at 9pm tonight, will feature the interview with Mr Galloway.

Robinson, 60, poked fun at her own recent plastic surgery. But she could not resist one last dig at Mrs Blair, inviting the audience to watch a video of the Prime Minister cringing when his wife treated a Japanese audience to an impromptu rendition of the Beatles' When I'm Sixty-Four.
