Tweet, tweet: feather your nest this spring with the latest birds-inspired interiors trends

Designers are looking to the skies for inspiration this spring and finding it in the colours, textures, patterns and natural beauty of birds.

From British blackbirds, pigeons and jays to more exotic winged creatures, there is a huge range of feathery design delights waiting to help your home fly.

Digital embroidery artist Jacky Puzey has covered a cocktail chair in parakeets, complete with brightly-coloured, boundary-breaking feathers; Kit Miles has splashed pinks and greens on walls with his intricate Birds in Chains paper; and wildlife artist Robert Gillmor has printed a family of puffins onto cotton/linen cushions.

Design duo Jill Perkins and Jan Morley are putting murders of crows and squabbles of seagulls onto tea towels and clocks; London artist Rory Dobner is giving birds an eccentric twist with pen and ink; and Herefordshire's Peta Darnley has been collecting feathers from her family farm and printing them onto beautiful bone china.
