WHY MOVE TO SALFORDS

Three miles south of Redhill, Salfords is a small, well-equipped village with a school, several pubs, a small parade of shops and a social club. It also fields a village cricket team and is just south of the Surrey Hills.

Critics say it's more of a far-flung suburb of Redhill than a proper village — and it does lack a true centre.

Proximity to Gatwick means some flightpath noise, but journeys to the airport are a breeze.

By Surrey standards prices are very reasonable, with a three-bedroom semi costing about £400,000, and there are positive signs for Salfords' fortunes in the future.

The village has a primary free school, opened too recently to have an Ofsted rating.

A plus is that Salfords is close to Redhill, where huge amounts of inward investment are regenerating the town.

"As Redhill comes up, so will Salfords," says Wendy Leech, director of Robert Leech estate agents.
