Italian chef Francesco Mazzei will launch a new restaurant in Islington next year.
Radici — which translates as roots — will be run by D&D London and will replace the restaurant group's existing site Almeida, which will close on January 1 after 15 years of service.
It is due to open in April and will be inspired by Mazzei’s southern Italian heritage, as well as Islington itself, where he and his family live.
The restaurant will be Mazzei’s second with D&D London and he will continue to oversee Mayfair’s Sartoria, which relaunched with him at the helm just over a year ago.

The new restaurant's kitchen will be led by head chef Antonio Mazzone, previously sous chef at City restaurant L’Anima, which Mazzei ran for seven years and first made a name for himself. He left the restaurant in 2015.
