1. Euphorium Bakery

Not one for wheat intolerant surfers, this light and airy delicatessen offers artisan breads, homemade cakes, tarts, pastries, sandwiches, salads - the list is near endless. 2. The Barbican

OK so it may be a bit like working in one of George Orwell's dystopian cheese dreams, but with three eateries to choose from and a plethora of different work spaces, The Barbican ticks all the boxes. For those wanting a quick (and delicious) cake, sarnie, or world food creation often involving cous-cous, there's the ground floor Foodhall. The lounge and Searcy's restaurant (both level 2) also provide a more formal dining experience, great for after you've been staring at a screen for hours.

3. Look Mum No Hands,

If you're after something healthy, this typically East London trendy cafe-bar boasts an array of salads and specials that change daily depending on the season. Fresh juices and smoothies can power even the most fatigued of workers but make sure you get a table by the wall if your macbook isn't fully charged - there aren't that many sockets to share out and, as everyone knows, it's sometimes all about the sockets. If you're not after something healthy, best opt for their now-famous Guinness cake. Mainly because it's staggeringly brilliant.

4.The Curzon Cinema, Soho

There are probably a million great little cafes with wifi in Soho, but the Curzon Cinema achieves the best balance of quiet, comfy sofas, sockets and a mindboggling lemon meringue pie. The Konditor and Kook cafe sells sandwiches, snacks, light meals and great cakes (not to mention the pies) as well as free wifi throughout the whole building. Though it might occasionally get busy throughout the day, there's always a seat and the downstairs lounge is the ideal, cosy working environment.

5.Tom's Kitchen

This is wifi food at its poshest. A ten-minute walk from South Ken station, Tom's Kitchen offers a full menu alongside cold snacks and coffee in the sort of ambience that would inspire even the most frustrated worker. The full English breakfast, served till 11.45am Mon-Fri and 1pm on weekends, is award-winning for a reason and ideal for a well-earned break. On a weekday it's nice and quiet but be sure to end the day with one of their extensive cocktails- the Margharita being a firm favourite.
