If you’ve heard of docu-film Searching for Sugar Man, then you’ve heard of Rodriguez. The Mexican-American was discovered in Detroit in 1969 and hailed as the next Bob Dylan. But despite releasing albums in the early seventies to critical acclaim, he failed to capture the public’s attention and disappeared into obscurity. However, bootleg copies of his album found their way into apartheid South Africa as well as Australia, where his music struck a chord and became an instant hit. Now, after the success of the documentary, he’s back on tour.
