When Santa Maria, a pizzeria big enough to seat 16 diners, opened in Ealing back in 2010 it attracted far more attention than anyone would ever have guessed.

First the locals fell in love with it, closely followed by the foodies and Italian expats the city over.

It was promptly hailed as the best pizza in London by legions of seasoned eaters, tweeters, critics and publications, and it’s been hard to get a seat ever since.

It’s good news for pizza lovers, then, that the owners — Neapolitans Pasquale Chionchio and Angelo Ambrosio — have addressed that issue by opening a second site.

Located slightly more centrally near Fulham Broadway station, it will serve the same pizzas but accommodate a comparatively whopping 70 diners at a time.
