Ask most Londoners what Uzbek food is like and they’ll struggle to give you an answer. Not surprising really, given the Asian country isn’t exactly a hot holiday destination and the cuisine has barely featured on the London food scene.

Samarkand, which has just opened in Fitzrovia, is hoping to change this. Its traditional Uzbek menu includes plov, lagman noodles, slow-cooked meats and Uzbek breads while the design is also Uzbek-inspired.
