“And I remember that being a massive problem, and now we don’t have that problem, because everyone knows to fold the pizza and eat it Neapolitan style.”
A decade on
Ten years on and the brothers have embarked on a new pilgrimage to Napoli in their Pizza Vespa and sidecar to bring fresh ideas back to London.
During our expedition, we immersed ourselves in the world of pizza chefs, suppliers, and producers, on a quest for fresh flavours from the heart of Italy. These ideas will grace the new Pizza Pilgrims menu, set to launch in July, boasting 10 dishes in celebration of their 10-year pilgrimage.
From drinks like a new Bellini Spritz to contend with the ubiquitous Aperol Spritz, to late night Americana pizzas with French fries and hotdogs, as well as deep-fried smoked mozzarella bites and Sorbet stuffed lemons, this menu will give guests a taste of unseen Napoli.
Pizza Pilgrims have influenced, and raised the bar, among London’s other Napolitan pizzerias. They’ve sparked a new competition — where your typical tomato and cheese base will no longer cut it.
