Yes, my little bagatelles, it's time to think about Tiffany's and posh teas again. Restaurateurs all over town are hastily assembling tables for two and the red-rose population is about to be devastated. Here's our choice of the most seductive deals on offer.

No excuses needed for another mention for the excellent Morgan M in Islington, especially after reported front-of-house inefficiency has been dealt with.

The eponymous M Meunier has a genius with vegetables, reflected in his six-course From The Garden Valentine's menu, featuring the requisite exotic and aphrodisiac dishes - Perigord black truffle risotto with thyme beurre blanc, for instance. There's also a carnivore-friendly, sixcourse Tasting Menu; both come in at £48 a head.

Cool, stylish Deca in Mayfair and sister restaurant Incognico, a far more chic place than its name suggests, are coming over all romantic with dishes designed for two to share.

There's a carrè d'agneau roasted with black olive crust; Dorset blue lobster with bèarnaise; or you can dip fingertips into tuile cones filled with chocolate orange mousse. This is one for loaded lovers only, though: both lamb and lobster check in at a hefty £25 per person.

Those searching for something a little more outrè should head to Kennington's looney Lobster Pot, where owner Hervè is laying on a £69-a-head, eight-course menu with an Arabian feel - fresh lobster and lentil stew with a la'tar-flavoured rice; scallop, prawns and tuna with olive oil and saffron; lime sorbet with rosewater - and Arabic entertainment too.

'I have hired the best in town!' he writes with his usual enthusiasm. Dress for February 14 will be compulsory black tie for men 'just to impress the girls'.
