Burns Night in London: Deep-fried Mars bars to finish fine-dining feast at top brasserie108 Brasserie is hosting an evening of Caledonian food and entertainment – complete with the Scottish delicacyScottish classic: a deep-fried Mars Bar at 108 Brasserie

Restaurants across London are embracing Burns Night next Monday by serving up typically Scottish dishes including the deep-fried Mars bar.

In Marylebone, 108 Brasserie is hosting an evening of Caledonian food and entertainment in honour of the Scottish poet Robert Burns.

Head chef Russell Ford has created a menu including Highland steak, venison Wellington, haggis, neeps and tatties and cranachan. The festivities, which cost £40 a head and include music from a highland piper, will finish with the deep-fried Mars bar. Ford has transformed it from a greasy fish-and-chip shop offering into a fine-dining delight, served with caramel sauce and honeycomb ice-cream. He said: “We got through quite a lot of Mars bars experimenting.”

The Boisdale group is celebrating at its restaurants in Canary Wharf, Victoria and Liverpool Street with a “haggis-heavy” menu and musical entertainment for £75 per person.
