Moorgate brunch spot Bad Egg will re-open later this month, just six months after closing.

The restaurant, which is run by the group behind the Smokehouse restaurants in Islington and Chiswick and was originally led by chef Neil Rankin, closed in October to make way for experimental project Little Smoke.

Perhaps public demand for Bad Egg’s unashamedly boozy brunches made its return a necessity, because Little Smoke has been sent packing (back to the blackboard at Islington's Smokehouse).

Bad and back: Bad Egg near Moorgate

From April 12, Bad Egg will serve seven days a week, with familiar weekend bottomless brunches fueled by prosecco on tap, Bloody Marys and Mimosas alongside a brand new offering for weekdays.

New additions include a n’duja croque monsieur, a Bad Egg burrito and a Snicker Bocker Glory for pudding.

Returning favourites include Mexican eggs in the form of huevos rancheros and its famed cheeseburger hash topped with a fried egg.

Husband and wife founders Scott and Maria Hunter said: “Bad Egg is where we can pour all our guilty pleasures into the menu... It’s developed a loyal, almost cult-like following over the years so we’re excited to bring it back.”
