Scotland fans in London are getting ready to cheer on Steve Clarke’s men after a near three-decade hiatus from the World Cup.

Anticipation about Scotland's return to the tournament combined with their emphatic win against Bolivia in a friendly match on Saturday has fired up Scottish fans as their first game nears.

Kick-off for Scotland’s match against Haiti is scheduled for 2am on Sunday UK time, while the remaining two group stage matches against Morocco and Brazil are scheduled for 11pm.

An automatic licensing extension granted by the government, which allows pubs to open later, does not apply to any of Scotland’s group stage games as they kick-off after 10pm.

So, Scottish fans will have to find pubs with special licensing permits or venues with existing late night licensing.

Luckily, London’s pubs are primed to welcome the Tartan Army whatever the weather and more crucially, whatever the time.

The Volley

The Volley in Old Street
The Volley

The Volley in Old Street claims it is the “best place to watch football, outside a stadium, in London” and that may be true for Scottish fans.

The pub will show all Scotland games with the sound on across more than five screens at its central London location.

Despite usually closing its doors at 11pm, the sports bar will stay open for a large number of World Cup games over the summer, including the Scotland matches.

The Auld Hag at Club 360

All three Scotland matches in the group stage will be shown at Club 360 in a Scottish takeover of the Tottenham nightclub by north London cafe the Auld Hag.

Punters will be served Irn Bru cocktails, Tennent’s, and Buckfast, as well as a selection of Scottish scran from the Auld Hag including pizzas, pies, and their famous morning rolls.

The club has a 6am licence and easy access to the night tube, so it should come as no surprise that tickets are selling out fast.
