Laura Linney will make her London stage debut in an adaptation of Elizabeth Strout’s My Name Is Lucy Barton.

The Oscar-nominated actress will star in the play, adapted by Rona Munro, at the Bridge Theatre in June this year.

Strout’s novel was released in 2016 and longlisted for the Man Booker Prize, and will be performed as a one-woman monologue in Munro’s adaptation. It tells the story of a woman who wakes after an operation to find her mother at the end of the bed, leading her to revisit the events of her childhood and leaving home.

Linney has appeared in a number of theatre productions on Broadway, which have seen her receive four Tony nominations.

It is the latest show to be announced at Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr’s Bridge Theatre, where Ben Whishaw and David Morrissey are currently starring in a production of Julius Caesar. Later this year, the new theatre will stage the world premiere of new Martin McDonagh play A Very Very Very Dark Matter.
