Bring home the bacon: Dishoom's bacon naan is a hangover-busting favourite

Thankfully, you don’t need your own tandoor oven to nail the cult restaurant’s famous hangover cure. While doors are closed, Dishoom’s master chefs have created a kit so you can perfect your own pillowy-soft naan from the comfort of your kitchen — one way to impress your support bubble at the next weekend brunch (download Dishoom’s Spotify playlist for true Bombay vibes).

Each kit costs £16 and contains all the ingredients you need to make breakfast for two: smoked streaky bacon from Ramsay of Carluke, Dishoom’s signature tomato-chilli jam, fresh coriander, cream cheese and three naan dough balls — two plus a spare for experimentation (there’s a handy video online if you get stuck). There’s tea for two, too: loose-leaf Darjeeling and chai spices are included so you can enjoy Dishoom’s much-loved masala chai. Just add milk and sugar to brew.

Delivery is currently available to neighbours of the King’s Cross, Kensington and Shoreditch restaurants and a limited number of kits will be released for same-day delivery from 3pm every afternoon on dishoom.com — no more slogging around the shops with a long list of fillings, plus you’ll be supporting more than just your fellow bubblers. For every kit sold, Dishoom is donating a meal to charity partner Magic Breakfast, which provides free, nutritious meals to children who may otherwise go hungry.

The best London restaurants offering delivery

Dishoom isn’t the only foodie favourite sharing its secrets with lockdown Londoners. Borough Market baker Bread Ahead launched its new learning platform last week and it’s a step up from the baking school’s IGTV classes and Zoom workshops.

Choose your masterclass from British tea-time to Italian baking and for £25 you’ll be given access to a live session plus your own digital workbook to fill in as you go. Each includes an interactive shopping and equipment list, a section to write down questions before and after, hints and tips ahead of the session, and a link to video guides that’ll help you prepare.

You’ll be sent a recording of the class afterwards so you can practise in your own time — a perfect gift for that friend still sending you weekly sourdough updates. Lockdown baking 2.0 is about to commence.
