It’s one year since the London Bridge terror attacks which saw eight people killed in and around Borough Market and the foodie hub subsequently shut for 10 days.
As well as the immediate impact, many of the market’s traders have suffered huge financial losses brought about due to inability to trade and stock wasteage – plus the fact that many isurance policies do not cover terrorism.
Leo McCourt, 24, who runs Northfield Farm butchery with his brother told us:
‘It’s as close as we’ve ever come to having to sell the farm because wages needed paying and animals needed feeding, and we had to take out a big loan.’
Borough Market one year onAlamySumming up the spirit of the market, he added: ‘But we weren’t willing to sack people just because four selfish a***holes decided to come and stab people.’
