The record summer looks set to linger until way into autumn. And while few would bemoan the balmy temperatures, some (myself included) may find the appeal of colourful kaftans, embellished sandals and seashell anklets begin to fade come September.
Some may begin to crave crisper lines and sassier silhouettes, but when the mercury continues to rise above 25 degrees, the pastel suiting so popular in spring remains impracticable and denim is most definitely a no-go.
The answer? It’s time to bring back the '80s inspired short suit. Less broad shouldered and mannish than the red Bermuda get up worn by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, the short suit 2.0 is a trimmer, slicker affair. Think summer-weight fabrics, belted waistlines, earthy tones and boater stripes.
Make light work of the illegally scorchio Central line, laugh in the face of the broken A-C at work, all while channelling a super sleek, insouciant androgyny… and flashing those beautifully bronzed holiday pins.
