When you know, you know. There’s no mistaking it. That chemistry is undeniable. When you meet that person and know… that you detest them. That they are 50 shades of rubbish, a bin fire in skin, and, yet, might be your best chance of happiness.

That’s the anti-rom vibe in hit US comedy You’re The Worst which introduces us to Jimmy Shive-Overly, an arrogant and petulant writer, and Gretchen Cutler, a cynical music PR drier than desiccated sandpaper.

Speaking about the show, Geere said it is a comedy of truth which moves away from the notion of a happy ever after.

"Relationships are hard," he said. "We leave school and we are told by peoplede around us that it's plain sailing - a typical romantic comedy with a happy ever after - but it's not it's really hard. But in the end however unlikeable you are you're deserving of love."
