Wes Nelson has left fans fearing for his Dancing On Ice career after revealing he had a “really bad fall” in training.

The Love Island star, who recently split from girlfriend Megan Barton Hanson, showed off an egg-shaped lump on his knee.

Posting to his Instagram stories, Nelson could be heard clattering down on the ice while partner Vanessa Bauer gasped.

Alongside the videos, he wrote: “Took a really bad fall today in training, don't miss Dancing On Ice on Sunday for the full slow mo footage.

“Still in a lot of pain, praying I can train properly tomorrow.”

The next snap showed Nelson resting his injured knee, highlighting a bump that had come up on the side.

As if the fall wasn’t bad enough, Nelson also told fans that he was suffering from the “worst cold of all time”.

Nelson has been flying high in the ITV skating competition, topping the leaderboard last week to Sign Of The Times by Harry Styles.

Viewers were left shocked as the pair got very close towards the end of the routine, with fans thinking they were set to kiss just hours after Nelson’s relationship ended.

On Saturday, Barton Hanson announced that the pair had called time on their relationship after weeks of rumours their romance was on the rocks.

Barton Hanson, 24, had made no secret of her dislike for Nelson’s “disrespectful” partner, taking aim at her for not inviting her down to rehearsals and accusing her of announcing her own break-up to tie in with Nelson’s first skate.

Nelson’s terrible fall comes days after Gemma Collins’ took a stumble live on air and hit the rink. She has since denied claims she was “faking” the icy plunge and claimed she “blacked out” .

Dancing On Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
