Piers Morgan jokingly made a move on Susanna Reid after she confirmed her split from Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish.

Morgan, 54, said it was no coincidence that she announced the news on the day he returned to Good Morning Britain after a lengthy Easter break.

“I’m back,” he said as he held up a front page documenting the news. “You single again?”

Reid replied: “Lets not dwell. I’m fine. We’re fine. We’re very good friends. We were at the match on Saturday.”

Morgan continued: “Is there any coincidence it gets announced on the day I get back? You back in the market for a good looking guy in his early 50s who supports a London football team?”

Taking a swipe at Morgan’s beloved Arsenal, she joked she is in the market for someone who supports a “winning team”.

Reid and Parish were first pictured together at Stamford Bridge during the Eagles’ 3-1 defeat to Chelsea in November 2018. She later confirmed they were dating after a grilling from Morgan.

Morgan struggled with how to address the reports, before Reid confirmed it is a “relationship” and asked Morgan: “What do you want to call it?”

News of their split broke over the weekend with a source telling The Sun: “It’s very sad, but they just couldn’t make it work. They both work extremely hard and there wasn’t enough time for romance.”

Reid was previously with Dominic Cotton for 16 years. The couple, who split in 2014, have three sons together.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am
