Netflix has debuted the new trailer for the second season of Ricky GervaisAfter Life.

The popular Netflix series stars Gervais as Tony, a journalist and grieving widower who decides to drop his nice-guy persona following the death of his wife Lisa from cancer.

The new season of the show, created by Gervais, finds Tony still grieving Lisa’s death but on a journey of self-improvement.

His pathway to equilibrium is threatened when his employer, the local newspaper, is at risk of shutting down.

“When she died, everyone tried to help me, and it sort of saved me,” Tony says in the trailer.

“I feel that I should help the people who helped me.”

Netflix ordered a second season of After Life after the first season debuted to critical acclaim.

"I was blown away by the reaction to season one,” said Gervais in a statement.
