Love Island’s Dr Alex has hit back at viewers who mocked his sunburnt skin during his time in the villa, saying it was the result of a “condition.”
The medic said he takes medication to help his sensitive skin and was slapping on the factor 50 in the Mallorcan sun.
Speaking on Sky News, George said: “There have been a lot of jokes about it, but I do take sunburn very seriously.
"I have a skin condition unfortunately and take medication, which makes my skin sensitive to the sun.
"So even though I had been lathering up with factor 50 I did come up a bit pink.”
The 27-year-old added: “It is so important to protect yourself in the sun, it's just unfortunate my skin condition means I did burn a bit. A lot of it was in the cameras.”
The revelation comes after news that series four went out on a high with a massive 4.1 million viewers, at its peak, watching Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham take home the £50,000 prize.
An average audience of 3.6 million tuned into Monday night’s live final, returning ITV2’s biggest ever audience.
A million more people witnessed this year’s climax than last year’s, 2.2 million more than series two and up 2.8 million on the inaugural series of the then-rebooted show.

(Re)coupled with this, a further 1.9 million streamed the final via the ITV Hub and the programme trounced competitors in other slots on other shows.
Around 1.6 million 16-34s tuned in for the final, making it the most watched for the age group.
