John Partridge will return to EastEnders as part of an “explosive” storyline it has been confirmed.
Partridge, 44, will reprise his role as Jane Beale's brother Christian Clarke alongside Lynda Baron who plays their onscreen mother Linda Clarke.
Show bosses are keeping tight lipped about plot details but teased that the storyline will “change the Beale family forever”.
The official Twitter account for the BBC soap announced the news, posting: “BREAKING: John Partridge & Lynda Baron to return to #EastEnders!”
Speaking about his return he said: “I am thrilled to be able to return to EastEnders whilst touring the UK with Chicago.
“Christian is never far from my mind - I turn my back for five minutes and look what happens!”
Christian was last seen in Walford in 2015 for Ian and Jane’s wedding as part of the 30th anniversary live week.
Partridge’s return to the soap follows the news that Ross Kemp will reprise his role as Grant Mitchell as the show bids farewell to Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor). The scenes will also see Pat Butcher (Pam St Clement) return as an hallucination.
