Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? viewers were left bemused on Monday evening as they watched a contestant – who had previously studied geography – stumble over where Blackpool is.
Tom Holmes, from Cornwall, was stumped by the £500 question asking him to name the English county that the Blackpool Tower is in.
Holmes was given the option of Lancashire, Hertfordshire, Somerset and Kent and surprised host Jeremy Clarkson when he faltered over the answer, with the former Top Gear presenter joking that “people in Arizona know the answer”.
The former A-Level geography student said: “Yeah, it’s obviously not Kent or Somerset. I’m pretty sure it must be Lancashire, I’m just trying to work out where Hertfordshire is.”
Dilemma: Tom Holmes wasn't too sure where The Blackpool Tower was at firstITVMuch to the delight of the former Top Gear frontman, Mr Holmes opted for Lancashire and bagged the money.
Thankfully he fared better with his other questions and successfully beat previous contestants to take home £32,000.
