The overnight viewing figures for the Great British Bake Off final have been confirmed, with more viewers than ever tuning in.
On average, 14 million fans watched Candice Brown take the crown on the BBC baking competition, with a peak of 14.8 million viewers.
Last year’s final with Nadiya Hussain became 2015’s most-watched TV moment in the UK, and on the night pulled in an average of 13.4 million.
Once consolidated with catch-up figures and iPlayer streams, the Series 7 final is likely to be the highest-viewed Great British Bake Off episode ever.
The finale saw Candice triumph over competitors Jane Beedle and Andrew Smyth, with some of the toughest challenges ever on the show.
The showstopper round tasked the finalists with creating a 49-piece picnic hamper, complete with sausage rolls, mini quiches, scones, cream tarts, and a four-tier chocolate cake.
Speaking on her win, Brown was overwhelmed, saying: “Never ever, ever thought I’d ever even get on this, and I’m standing here now with this.

Brown has now been tipped to earn £1 million in the coming year after her success on the series.
The Series 7 finale was the last episode of the Bake Off to air on the BBC, with the show moving to Channel 4 in 2017.
