Often the best way to get the investors of Dragons’ Den interested in your product is to get them involved in some kind of interactive activity.
Cast in point: ‘Mad’ Marc Wileman, who confidently enters the Den by firing smoke rings at the Dragons, before getting them to make their own pot of colourful gooey slime in a cup. Needless to say, the investors get stuck in, evidently pleased with their hilarious gungy creations.
Wileman is the brains (literally) behind Sublime Science, a franchise encompassing live shows, books, activity products, and workshops, all aimed at showing young children that science can be, as he says, “awesome”.
“Britain, the UK, England – we’ve got probably the richest history of incredible scientists,” Wileman explains. “To have the opportunity to make science fun for children at that primary school age, that’s just a privilege to be able to do it.”

It’s not just the science that impresses, though – Marc’s parties have proved a huge hit, winning awards and over 1000 glowing reviews online, and he might have struck the perfect scientific formula for making a strong, financially sustainable business, and all for a good cause.
