Yungblud returns with nine-minute epic track and a six pack!

Well this is the way to make a comeback. Yungblud, the chart-topping 27 year old Doncaster singer-songwriter is back with a new song that certainly doesn’t hold back

Hello Heaven, Hello is nine minutes of pop-punk that might well be his Bohemian Rhapsody. In fact the track skips through a kind of best of rock over the last 50 years, combining grunge, Green Day, Queen, punk, Foo Fighters, basically anything that combines heavy guitars with soaring choruses. And then it has a krautrock middle section.

The accompanying video which streamed live this evening is similarly ambitious, featuring Yungblud in a frozen wasteland riding a horse, sprouting wings, and singing to the heavens about Heaven.

Yes this a song dealing with death in the most stirring kind of way, seemingly addressing people he has lost in a way that points him to a glorious new future.

Of the release, Yungblud says “Rock music is in my DNA. It’s the first genre I was ever exposed to; I grew up in a guitar shop with my Dad and my Grandfather. Rock music helped me find an identity as a human being.”

Yungblud - real name Dominic Harrison - says he knew he had to change things up when he was alone in a New York hotel room: “I felt like I was starting to repeat myself - I’d fallen into my own cliche… I’d become comfortable. It was good in a way; it meant that I had my own style. But I’ve always said that if people know where I’m going next, that is my idea of failure”.

The single is quite a way to come back from that, with the sheer ambition of the track.

Yungblud says, “I’ve been discouraged from releasing a nine-minute and six second song as my first move back in a year because, in the modern world, it’s seen as a “risk.” I don’t see it that way at all—I see it as an opportunity. In my opinion, risk is an artist’s greatest tool—putting everything on the line in pursuit of the best evolution and art you can create. Without risk, there is no innovation.”

The release follows shortly after news that Bludfest, Yungblud’s own curated festival, will return to Milton Keynes's National Bowl for its second year this summer. Yungblud will top a bill featuring some of music’s most exciting emerging established talent, offering fans a stellar lineup at an affordable price. Bludfest Year 2 takes place on 21st June, 2025
