It looks like Frida Sundemo is going to become famous as a fictional singer before she finds real success as herself.
The Swede is about to appear as the frontwoman of imaginary band The Lazies in the film Kill Your Friends, which stars Nicholas Hoult as an amoral record company executive murdering his way up the promotion ladder. It’s out on November 6, at the same time as its soundtrack, which features Sundemo’s euphoric synthpop tune Heroes alongside the likes of Oasis, The Chemical Brothers and Blur.
Even before the film, she’s been making a name for herself with TV syncs. New fans have sought her out after hearing her ballad Keep an Eye on Me on Grey’s Anatomy and You on the new US horror comedy Scream Queens.
With a handful of singles to her name since 2013, she’s now signed to major label Parlophone and preparing a debut album for next year. Assuming she isn’t one of the people Hoult kills in the movie, everything’s looking rosy for another Scandinavian pop princess.
