Radiohead join Glastonbury record books with third headline slot

What do Van Morrison, Coldplay, The Cure and Elvis Costello have in common? They have each headlined Glastonbury a record three times.

On Friday night, Radiohead joined them.

The Oxfordshire band first topped the billing back in 1997, three years after their first Glasto appearance.

They would return to headline again in 2003, before successive appearances in 2010 and 2011.

Radiohead returned for the first time in six years this weekend, and are back among the headline acts alongside American band Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran.

Their performance on Saturday coincides with the 20-year anniversary of their critically acclaimed album, OK Computer, the band's third studio album.

The title was inspired by the 1978 radio series of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which the band listened to while travelling between shows when touring in 1996.

The album, which features hits Karma Police, Paranoid Android and No Surprises, was awarded a Grammy for Best Alternate Music Album the following year.
