Five tracks to hear this week (July 28-Aug 3)

Dance duo Snakehips are now Ivor Novello winners and still pulling in impressive guests for their pop tunes. Having worked with MØ, Chance the Rapper and Zayn previously, their new song, Either Way, unveiled today, features pop favourite Anne-Marie and rapper Joey Badass.

Following Ryan Adams recording his own version of Taylor Swift’s 1989 album in full, this week Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie has remade Bandwagonesque, the wonderful 1991 Teenage Fanclub album. He’s the best known participant so far in a series of covers projects commissioned by the Seattle label Turntable Kitchen.

Big enough in London to play Brixton Academy, young Jamaican reggae star Chronixx has worked with Major Lazer and Rudimental and now has a debut album that shows what he can do. Chronology, including the single Likes, is out on all formats this week.

Originally best known as Jessie Ware’s drummer, south London R&B singer Dornik now has a connection with Mercury-nominated duo Jungle too. They’ve produced his smooth, summery new single, God Knows.

Chicago rapper and Kanye West collaborator Vic Mensa features guests including Pharrell Williams, Pusha T and Weezer on his debut album, The Autobiography, which is out today. He brings the rock on the new song Rage, which has a new video online now.
