With 2017 looming, the BBC have unveiled the longlist for their annual Sound Of poll.

Fifteen artists have been tipped for big things in the next year, with an array of genres on show.

Perhaps the best-known artist on the longlist is Californian R&B and hip-hop artist Anderson .Paak.

.Paak is a singer, rapper and multi-instrumentalist, who heavily featured on Dr Dre’s 2015 album Compton: A Soundtrack.

He has already released two solo albums, with his 2016 record Malibu receiving critical acclaim.

Also on the list is contemporary blues artist Rag’n’Bone Man, who has supported Tom Odell on tour, and has an album due for release in March 2017.

The rise of London’s grime scene looks set to continue, with Stormzy’s cousin Nadia Rose on the list alongside Clapton’s Stefflon Don.

Only two bands feature on this year’s list – political post-punk five-piece Cabbage from Manchester, and The Amazons from Reading. The latter have recorded with producer Tom Dalgety, who worked with Royal Blood and The Maccabees.

Rounding out the list are AJ Tracey, Dave, Declan McKenna, Jorja Smith, Maggie Rogers, Ray BLK, RAYE, The Japanese House, and Tom Grennan.

The Sound of 2017 has been compiled by media pundits and people in the industry, with the top five shortlisted artists set to be revealed in January.

Previous winners of the BBC poll have included the likes of Jack Garratt, Sam Smith, Adele, Ellie Goulding, HAIM, and Years & Years.
