Artist Kate MccGwire, famed for her feathered sculptures, offered us an exclusive glimpse inside her studio.
MccGwire is offering a work entitled Cradle for an auction to raise money for children’s charity Rays of Sunshine. It takes place at Christie’s tomorrow (September 7).
It will also include lots from Barnaby Barford, Rana Begum, Grayson Perry, Peter Blake, Jonathan Yeo, Antony Gormley, Edmund de Waal and Howard Hodgkin.
The money raised will go towards granting the wishes of seriously and terminally ill children, allowing them to make memories and have a welcome distraction from their condition.

MccGwire talked about her personal affinity with Rays of Sunshine as a charity: her son fell seriously ill at the age of four, and went through a number of life-changing operations.
As well as showing us how she creates her feathered sculptures, MccGwire explained how she trained and graduated from art school at the age of 40, and offered advice for budding artists.
