Temp app Syft in £6 million funding boost

A London recruitment start-up backed by former boxing champion David Haye has received an extra £6.1 million in funding.

The Series A round for Syft, an app whereby users can apply to work in hospitality and at events, was led by Creandum, the Stockholm-based venture capital firm best known for backing music-streaming giant Spotify.

It follows a £2.65 million cash injection for Syft a year ago, which Haye took part in. He did not invest in the latest round.

“We thought we’d be raising towards the end of the year,” said co-founder Jack Beaman.

“But we had a few different venture capital firms which were interested and Creandum are a really, really good one and they came in and asked if they could do our round sooner than we had been expecting.”

Syft claims to save its clients 55% in temp fees. It has been focused on hospitality but wants to expand into warehouse and industrial jobs.
