Start-up Sirin targeting executives with new high-end smartphone

Security-conscious executives will be able to speak freely over the phone from next month thanks to the launch of a new, ultra-secure smartphone.

Sirin Labs is set to release its high-end device in London and while the specs have been kept under wraps, the Swiss-based company claims it is “the most advanced smartphone ever made”.

Its development has been led by Fredrik Oijer, the former product director of Sony Mobile, who has been handed a $72 million war chest by co-founder and president Moshe Hogeg, the entrepreneur behind social media app Mobli, chairman Kazakh businessman Kenges Rakishev, and Chinese internet company Renren.

Sirin, which was founded in Israel but is opening its flagship store in Mayfair, is offering an alternative to mass-market smartphones such as the iPhone for business people looking to protect confidential information. The company is advised by former Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
