Sources said the firm remains committed to its UK rail business despite only holding two franchises.

Abellio, the international arm of the Dutch national rail operator, has operated in the UK market since 2012, when it won the Greater Anglia franchise to run services between Norwich and London. It sold 40% of the franchise to Mitsui in January.
