“There is still a good degree of inequality at the top of business,” Hall said. “Female entrepreneurs are drastically underinvested, but often make the best CEOs and the best entrepreneurs, and it’s something that does need to be addressed. I think it is often because women don’t come from the backgrounds where they’re comfortable with fitting in with investment committee type structures.”
Hall said her former career in banking helped her when first raising money as an entrepreneur six years ago, but that “too often the process is outsourced to men, and therefore the power gets outsourced to other people”.
“It’s an area where people who are investing - and the majority are men still - need to put their money where their mouth is and invest in strong female entrepreneurs - because that is the only way this is going to get addressed”.
