Soames said the proposed addition of WBB gave Serco “credible positions” in several parts of the US defence market, including Air Force, Space Force, and the Missile Defense Agency.
It also brings significant new areas of capability to the London-based company, including advanced data analytics, wargaming and technologies related to geo-location.
Serco employs 55,000 people worldwide, of which 25,000 are in the UK. It has been one of the companies running the NHS Test & Trace scheme on behalf of the Government.
The FTSE 250 group ended 2020 in better shape than many in the City had been expecting, with revenues up 19% to £3.9 billion and underlying profits set to be 35% higher at above £160 million.
