Kate Nicholls, chief executive of trade association UKHospitality, which represents pub and restaurant owners, said: “The road to recovery for the hospitality industry will be a long and challenging one with only a quarter of businesses believing that they will break even this year. So it was important the chancellor outlined steps in his summer statement to address the potential for job losses in the immediate, short and medium term and the prospect of a jobs bonus in January will certainly provide a valuable lifeline and help to avert redundancies at that time.”
