Party time for Entertainment One ahead of festive blockbusters

Peppa Pig’s plans for world domination show no let-up and Bad Santa is also about to cash in.

The cartoon pig has just become the best-selling toy for pre-school girls in America, and parent Entertainment One says the brand still has huge growth potential.

Parents who think they have seen enough of Peppa may be sad to hear that many more cartoons are planned.

Chief executive Darren Throop said: “We are going to make new series for a long time. The brand will continue to get refreshed.” Series four of Peppa Pig premiered in October on Five in the UK.

Other Entertainment One properties doing well include The BFG. Throop says Bad Santa 2 and Office Christmas Party, starring Jennifer Aniston will be Christmas hits.

In the half year revenues rose 19% at £401 million. Profit was down from £40 million to £24 million, reflecting investment in shows.
