Parkas maker Canada Goose targets a $2 billion listing
Coats-maker Canada Goose will soon offer its legion of celebrity fans an opportunity to buy its shares as well as its parkas as it prepares to go public.
The 60-year-old company — known for its down-filled jackets with coyote fur hoods like the £950 Expedition Parka — filed for a listings in New York and its home town of Toronto.
It hopes to raise $300 million (£241 million) in the deal, which could value it at $2 billion. The cash will be used to raise its profile overseas, bolster its wholesale network and grow its online sales.
The brand has long been a staple item on Arctic adventures and film sets, but has gone mainstream in recent years as actors like Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper and Daniel Craig cemented its status as a fashion must-have.
UK shoppers can buy its goods in stores like Harrods and Selfridges as well as online.
Sales have been growing at close to 40% over the past three years, while profit has almost tripled. In its financial year ended last March, revenue was $290.8 million and profit was $30.1 million.
