Marston’s reveals its CFO is to take over from longstanding boss Ralph Findlay

Marston's has revealed it is to promote finance chief Andrew Andrea to chief executive after the departure of the pub group's longstanding boss Ralph Findlay.

Insider Andrea, who will take up the role in October, has been with Marston's for nearly 20 years and has served on its board since 2009.

Findlay resigned in March after two decades as CEO, and will remain in place until the end of the financial year.

Marston's, which operates an estate over over 1500 pubs, has had a busy few years. Since the pandemic hit it has seen a new joint venture partnership with Carlsberg UK to create a £780 million beer brewing giant, and exchanged contracts with Brains to operate its portfolio of 156 pubs in Wales.

Group chairman, William Rucker, said Andrea "was the strongest contender from a selection of extremely high calibre candidates under consideration and the unanimous choice of the boar", and that he is well equipped to "lead Marston’s through the next stage of its development".

It came as recently-floated AIM-listed hospitality firm Nightcap, which recently agreed to buy Adventure Bar Group in a deal valued at up to £6.8 million, said it has raised £10 million to further its investment strategy and roll out its acquisition.
