London beauty salons set for busy reopening week

London’s independent beauty salons may not be able to offer all treatments as they reopen from the Covid-19 lockdown this week, but companies are expecting to be busy.

The government last week gave the green light for beauty salons, nail bars, and massage studios in England to reopen from today, with health and safety measures in place. Front of the face services are not currently allowed, such as eyebrow waxing.

Hilary Hall, chief executive of the National Hair & Beauty Federation said: “Our London beauty and nail salon members are fully prepared for re-opening safely today, with the care of clients and staff being paramount. From speaking with many of them we know they are fully booked for several weeks, which is good news.”

Hall added: “However, we are still lobbying the government to push for further financial assistance to help those who are still unable to open and avoid the genuine risk of them losing their salons and livelihoods.”

Paige Sinnott, managing director of Odette Beauty in Barnet said: “We are now fully booked for the opening week. We have had to delay opening until Tuesday due to lack of PPE, however all appointments are booked up, which is brilliant.”
