Customers using Ocado Zoom can choose whether they would like to receive their delivery as soon as possible, or later that same day.
Ocado’s results update today said: “The first micro site, in West London, Ocado Zoom, is already full, a year ahead of schedule. A second London site has been secured and we are looking for an additional dozen sites within London's M25 orbital motorway to support the ambitious roll-out plan of Ocado Retail.”
Tim Steiner, chief executive of Ocado, said the new sites will be small to medium sized premises, typically between 10,000 square feet and 20,000 square feet.
He said the company would like to roll out a number of the sites, particularly in London.
Ocado Zoom recently launched a trial of electric assisted and pedal-powered vehicles.
The vehicles involved include electric refrigerated vans, refrigerated EAVs (electric assisted vehicles) and pedal-powered cargo bikes.
George Dean, head of Ocado Zoom said earlier this month: “We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint. This trial is an important step in what I hope will be a rapid expansion of our non-emitting fleet.”
