EG Group has been looking to soothe corporate governance concerns. In October it had no independent board members. But it has since appointed a former BP executive as a non-executive director.
Former M&S boss Lord Rose is currently chairman of Ocado, a post from which he will retire in May.
He said: "EG’s Board has asked me to develop appropriate governance structures for a business of this scale. The business has exciting development plans and exceptional prospects in the years to come.”
