The publicity around Reading has brought more SME customers with grievances to the fore.
They claim they’ve been ignored by the bank for years, and are coming to the media to claim they too were mistreated.
I’ve no idea of the rights and wrongs of their cases, but Lloyds risks turning what was a one-branch scandal into a wider reaching problem. Figures today show it has overtaken Barclays to take the top spot in the customer complaints tables.
It should take its SME complaints more seriously and treat those affected with the softest of kid gloves.
