Founder and chief executive Richard Harpin, who launched the company 27 years ago, praised Gibson for having chaired the firm with “dedication and skill” and said he had found a “strong successor” in Breen.
The company, which runs the Checkatrade website alongside a round-the-clock emergency repairs business, said in November that it saw revenues of £536.7 million in the six months to September 30, up 17% on the same period in 2019.
Adjusted pre-tax profit was up 16% at £33.1 million.
