Former top executive at tech star Apptivation denies PayPal fraud
A former executive of one of London’s leading app designers has denied defrauding the business in a case which centres on allegations that she used tens of thousands of pounds of its money to fund shopping sprees.
Mita Davda, ex-chief operating officer at City firm Apptivation, which makes smartphone apps for the likes of Lloyds and Halifax, pleaded not guilty to fraud at Blackfriars crown court last week.
In the same case, Nelesh Panchal, believed to be Davda’s partner, denied charges of transferring criminal property. The pair will face trial in January 2016.
Davda and Panchal declined to comment through their lawyer Rachel Quickenden at Corker Binning.
Davda is alleged to have used the company PayPal account and corporate cards to make personal purchases between June 2013 and February 2014.
She is also accused of making payments to her personal accounts between May 2013 and September 2013.
The scale of alleged fraud is believed to be around £77,000, some of which was said to be used to pay for expensive handbags.
Davda left Apptivation in March 2014.
